Today, for example, we want to tell you about a very nice tourist destination: Morella.

Morella is a municipality located in the north of the province of Castellón of the Valencian Community. What highlights Morella among other places of interest in Valencia, is that since 2013 Morella is one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. Also, it is one of the few places in Valencia where during winter you can see snow. Well, it is worth mentioning the magical charm that this town has during the winter. Especially, counting on that here in the city of Valencia we never see it

 

What to see in Morella?

Before everything, it is necessary to emphasize the beautiful Castle of Morella, a fortification of century XIII. It is located on top of the town that offers spectacular views to its visitors. The catillo has been the witness of the multiple battles, among them of the War of Succession.

On the other hand, the Archpriest Basilica Santa Maria la Mayor is one of the most beautiful temples in Valencia. The basilica has the largest organ of the Valencian Community, with more than 3.000 tubes.

Also, if you are in Morella, it is essential to visit its medieval walls. They reach a perimeter of 2,500 meters, with an average height of 10 to 15 meters. The special interest are the San Miguel Towers that are part of the main gate of the city.
Also, thanks to the location of Morella, you can make different hiking or cycling routes.

 

What to eat in Morella?

Morellana gastronomy offers a wide elaboration of all types of sausages and cheeses. Thus, you can degu.star the typical dishes of Morella such as croquettes morellanas, hams, truffles or soup morellana. Also, among the typical desserts are flaons and curd.

How to get to Morella?

It is located about 170 km from Valencia. In cars you can get there by leaving the V-21 highway, then take AP-7 motorway. Then you will have to continue on the roads CV-10, CV-132 and finally on the N-232 you arrive at Morella. In addition, there is a bus service that connects Castellón, Vinaroz, Peñíscola as well as other tourist towns along the coast.
