We are going to spend this weekend enjoying live music and photography in Valencia. Our Spanish school, El Rincón del Tándem, tells you more in this blog 😊

The time has come for students at our Spanish school to take a break from studying and enjoy the cultural events in Valencia.

To help our students take new energy and to start the next week of Spanish classes with enthusiasm, our Spanish school, El Rincón del Tándem, has selected some plans about live music and photography in Valencia.

Let’s take a look at them in detail!

Les Arts al IVAM

Saturday 15 at 6 pm
IVAM, Calle Guillem de Castro 118
Free concert

Les Arts al IVAM is a beautiful initiative born from the collaboration between the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno and the Centro de Perfeccionamiento del Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía.

It is a series of concerts starring opera singers, students of the training centre.

The encounter between modern art and opera occurs through the selection of musical pieces that are somehow linked with and contextualised in the Museum’s current exhibitions.

Without a doubt, a project that is committed to open culture and dialogue between different artistic disciplines.

Finally, the concerts are free of charge with prior registration. Registration will take place 30 minutes beforehand at the IVAM’s reception desk.

Jazz and Wine: Alberto Tarín & Mar Lozano

Saturday 15 at 8 pm
Rivendel, Calle de l’Hospital 18
Ticket: 6 euros

We continue our tour of the weekend plans, moving on to another musical proposal 😊.

Jazz and Wine is a project from the Rivendell resto-bar. A nice place with a bohemian air that livens up the evenings in the Velluters neighbourhood with its varied cultural initiatives.

In 2022, the cycle kicks off with a concert by the duo Alberto Tarín and Mar Lozano (guitar and vocals), who will perform a repertoire of great classics from the jazz scene.

Finally, the audience will be able to enjoy a good red wine, taking advantage of the special offer of a glass of wine at 1 euro, valid for the whole night. You can buy your ticket here.

Somos Agua

Till 1st fo May 2022
Oceanogràfic, Calle de Eduardo Primo Yúfera

The Oceanogràfic’s entrance building is hosting the exhibition Somos Aguas until May.

A photographic exhibition by Isabel Muñoz, winner of the National Photography Prize and twice winner of the International World Press Photo Award.

Somos Agua is the result of an artistic project in which the photographer celebrates the generosity and beauty of the marine world.

In fact, the 20 images that make up the exhibition portray the Japanese free diver Ai Futaki and the Oceanogràfic’s divers in underwater scenes that celebrate the harmony between humans and sea animals.

A beautiful visual experience that leads us to reflect on our relationship with the environment.

Nocturnas. Mientras la ciudad duerme…1900-1960

Till 28th of February 2022
La Nau, Calle de la Universidad 2
Free entrance

From contemporary photography we move on to photography from the first half of the 20th century. We move to one of the rooms in the Cloister of La Nau to enjoy this magnificent exhibition.

Nocturnas. Mientras la ciudad duerme…1900-1960, bring us to a journey through the nightlife of the main Spanish cities in the first 60 years of the 900s.

The exhibition brings together the works of the first great Spanish photojournalists, such as Sagarra and Torrents, Cortés, Pacheco, etc.
Thanks to their pictures, we will enter a nocturnal world and discover its different aspects.

A side full of mystery and darkness, one of leisure and entertainment, another one that portrays scenes of night-time workers (lamplighters, tram drivers, labourers, etc.).

Finally, the exhibition can be visited from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 8pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 10am to 2pm.

We hope you found our small selection of live music and photography plans in Valencia useful 😉

We would also like to remind you that our school organises Photo Conversation Courses. If you are passionate about photography and need to improve your Spanish, don’t hesitate to contact us for more information!

Lastly, our Spanish school, El Rincón del Tándem invites you to enjoy culture and leisure in Valencia, practising your Spanish outside the classroom.

¡Feliz fin de semana y hasta pronto!
