VLC Urban Art Festival

Saturday 28 and Sunday 29
Cabañal, Canyamelar, Grau
Free event

The Valencian autumn continues to offer interesting plans and new initiatives … in some cases, inspired by other countries.
We are referring to the VLC Urban Art Festival – Barri in Moviment. An initiative that was born from the collaboration between the Italian Cultural Institute of Barcelona and the municipal transport company of Valencia (EMT).

If after the Comic Day you feel like finishing off the weekend with more art and creativity, that is your perfect plan!

This festival celebrates urban art in all its forms, in the neighbourhoods of Cabañal, Canyamelar and Grao. Here below, we highlight the main events:

– From 25th to 28th. “Fruit Exhibition”. The independent art book fair of Bologna at Las Naves
– Saturday 28 from 6 pm. to 1 am. “Night of urban music” at La Mutant.

In addition, artistic interventions will take place on the walls of Cabañal buildings and several workshops will be held in the most emblematic places of the area, such as la Fábrica de Hielo, la Batisfera and Drassanes 52.

Finally, we invite you to take a look at the full program of the festival.

An Italian-Spanish Festival that celebrates urban art in all its aspects 🙂

Les Arts Volant 2019

Saturday 28, at 10 pm. Sunday 29, at 8 pm.
Barrio de Monteolivete y San Marcelino
Free show

If you have never gone to the Opera, don’t worry!

This time it is the Opera that goes out to meet the audience in the city’s neighbourhoods.
Les Arts Volant is a project promoted by Palau de les Arts, whose objective is to bring this musical genre to all people.

The initiative draws inspiration from the Barraca, a García Lorca’s theater company that, in the 1930s, brought the Spanish classical theatre to about 70 villages.

Following this example, Les Art’s itinerant company, composed of singers from the Plácìdo Domingo Center, is currently on its autumn tour, traveling through all the city neighbourhoods in its very equipped truck-stage.

This weekend, the chosen opera will be “Bastià i Bastiana” by Mozart.

The show will take place:

– Saturday 28, at 10 p.m. in Calle del Poeta Josep Cervera i Grífol (Monteolivete)
– Sunday 29, at 8 p.m. in the Church Square (San Marcelino)

We will not miss it… are you coming with us?

Finally, we highlight that today, Friday 27, Valencia celebrates the World Tourism Day with guided tours and free entrance to the main museums and monuments of the city.
There will be also orange juice and horchata tasting and traditional dance show in the Town Hall Square.

We hope that our blog helps you plan a beautiful weekend, full of art and sustainability.

From our Spanish school El Rincón del Tándem we encourage you to enjoy the city and its eclectic initiatives.
And of course, to continue learning Spanish, practicing it with your new friends 🙂

See you soon!
